Please help, some advice for Antibiotic Diarrhea?
bige2118 asked:
OK so I started taking Augmentin 875 about a week ago, and stopped on Saturday after consulting with my doctor about some side effects. At the time I was having completely watery stools, with little bits of what looked like blood. He prescribed Metronidazole, and said to stop the Augmentin. I decided I wanted to try and let my body work its magic, and it seemed/seems to be getting better now, I still go slightly more than normal but the consistency is much more solid. Is that a sign that the infection is improving without the antibiotic? Is a healthy diet alone enough to rid your body of colitis or pseudomembranous colitis, if that is actually what this was? I have been off the Augmentin for 3 full days, and still have yet to take the Metronidazole. As I leave for Europe in 5 days, I would like to be healthy there, however, don’t want the Metronidazole to interfere with any aspect of the trip. My question is, does it sound like I’m getting well or no?? Thanks!!!
