Thank you for trying to spread the word. I`m currently a med student working in autoimmunity 7yrs into colitis. Unfortunately, there has not been established a linear relationship in success rates for similar ibd patients using one treatment to necessarily work for others. The scientific data for the SCD diet is mixed; HOWEVER, there is a higher percentage remission rate for Crohn`s patients vs. UC. B/c it is a benign protocol, it may be worth a shot if you are still active.

hey bud. i did the scd diet for seven months and it got me better. but then at around the 6 month mark my symptoms all came back worse then before. i’m now doing something called anti-MAP therapy and possibly a bacterial fecal transplant (google em)which comes out of australia and has really really amazing success stories. i’m starting on the new drugs in two days. I just wanted to tell you a story where the diet didn’t work even when followed strictly. but good on ya for trying to help people.

My 17 year old son was just diagnosed with colitis and we’re trying this diet, started yesterday actually. He feels pretty alone and he absolutely hates yogurt, so it’s very challenging. Do you make your own yogurt?

    Hey Jay

Ty heaps for ur email. Will definitely check out the diet. I was diagnosed with crohns 5 years ago when i was 19 and not a year has gone by when i havent ended up in hospital cos things have gotten so bad. Im currently taking 11 pills a day which isnt right for a 24 year old. Thankyou so much for the tip and will let you know how it goes. Much <3

Thanks for the email, Jay. I will check the diet out. I’m using Remicade, and generally ok, but medication-free would be better. I do think it’s possible. I was diagnosed late (I’m in my late 40s), but personally, I’ve had a lot of the same symptoms since I was 16. We used to say my ulcers were acting up. (I had 100s of tiny duodenal ulcers (but had never checked the colon.))

Best wishes and good luck to you!

Jay, what is your favorite bread recipe? I think I’m going to start the diet so I’ve been trying some different recipes. I’m also making the yogurt. What kind of yogurt starter do you use?

I’m 31 and I have CD. I was doing great but I stopped taking the 6MP and now I’m flaring, so back on the med.

    Thanks!
