General Guide Lines Many IBD patients cannot digests certain foods. I have compiled a list of these "forbidden foods". Many of these foods and food elements (such as spices) are hidden in a lot of popular products. If you have a forbidden food not listed here, let me know about it. Non Colon friendly foods Avoid fibre - especially insoluble. Soluble fibre is not too bad apparently. Avoid spicy foods and fried foods Wholemeal bread and wholemeal pasta Cream, fruits, nuts, oatmeal, bran Pickles, spice, curries, beans, pulses, sweet corn, sprouts, spinach, prunes(!), raisins. Celery, cabbage, carrots, mushrooms, tomatoes, oranges, pears, plums, strawberries Milk, coffee, chocolate Carbonated drinks
Colon friendly foods Meat (low fat)
Fish All beverages (but go easy on caffeine and alcohol) Soya Milk Low fat yoghurt
White bread (moderate amount)
White rice
White pasta. Semolina/sago/tapioca (again - moderation) Potatoes (no skin)
