Mastocytic Enterocolitis or Mastocytic Inflammatory Bowel Disease (MIBD), A New Epidemic?
Mastocytic enterocolitis is a new clinical entity characterized by increase mast cells of
20 or more per high-powered field in the duodenum or colon. Jakate et al. described 47
patients with intractable diarrhea and abdominal pain without other cause who had elevated
mast cell numbers in intestinal biopsies and responded to therapy directed at mast cells.
The patients generally met criteria for diarrhea predominant irritable bowel syndrome
(IBS). Normal subjects had much lower levels of mast cells of an average of 12 per HPF.
My experience indicates that this condition may be another hidden epidemic that should be
added to the that of celiac disease and non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS). My colleague
Dr. Rodney Ford has suggested the term ‘gluten syndrome” for the broader problem of
non-celiac gluten sensitivity and I agree that this may be a more appropriate term. Now, I
am suggesting that mastocytic inflammatory bowel disease (MIBD) be considered as a better
term for the newly recognized mastocytic enterocolitis. I review my reasons below.

i never drank coffee and started drinking about a half cup to see what would happen, because i couldn’t move my BM’s. i had tried EVERYTHING. i had a nice present later that morning and i’ve been regular since. i have spoken to 2 other people this week who weren’t coffee drinkers. one is about to die from her disease, she’s had her 3rd surgery to fix the hole for her bag, there’s nothing to work with. the other had the same experience as me. never drank coffee and once she started she had regular bm’s. she’s doing fine.

Stroms asked:
I’ve had Crowns sense the age of 15 I am 50 now and had two surgeries, at age 16 and 44. Both times had had a couple of feet removed from the small intestine. The older I get I feel my diarrhea is worsening. I still have not found any kind of food that is better to eat then the other, but maybe I haven’t tried the right foods what ever that may be. I just wish I could be away from my home longer then just a few hours. If I need to be somewhere longer I just don’t eat, but I can only wait so long to eat then that’s when I get in trouble . I will feel it coming on and I will have to use a restroom at the groceries store which I hate it’s either to quite or there’s only 1 or 2 stalls and people are waiting for them, mean while the smell is enough to make a horse run the other way-lol, it’s funny in my house but not somewhere else and the noise I make is not quite,if you know what I mean, plus I’m not always walking normal after a bm. So any suggestions would be great. Thank You.
Tweedledee, Thank You so much for your answer, I have heard about Dr.Jordans book at a health store, so I will look into that book and I hope you feel better also.
Brittany, Wow that sucks for you too, to have both. I wish you will and thanks for the quick response, I will look up SCD diet on the web. Thank you.
Virgo-I have changed my diet some, I do love veggies but I don’t really steam them, I will try that. I do drink soy milk and not sure if thats a good thing or not, Thank You for reinforcing the right diet foods.

Ivy asked:
My doctor has prescribed me reglan, amitiza, and lactulose. The lactulose worked the best, for a week or so and it seems like my body just gets used to the meds and they just quit working. I eat bran. I eat spinach. I eat prunes. I exercise. I am taking meds that can cause constipation but I have to take them. A suppository such as Ducalax will work but I dont like to use them because I heard you could become dependant on them. Going 2 or 3 weeks without a BM is normal for me. I do not have a blockage, as I have had all that checked. I dont drink alot of water, as I have a tendancey of retaining water. And the constipation seems to make it worse. Help!
