Thank you for posting this! I had my ileostomy surgery when I was 16. My biggest concern was being healthy again. I had been so sick for several years with no remission that I was very excited for surgery and my ostomy. My surgeon and GI made a point to tell me that mine was temporary and I didn’t care. I’m 19 now and mine is now permanent and it doesn’t bother me at all! =]
I don’t understand those people , the ileostomy is temporary. when I had the surgery the doctors didn’t know for sure if I had a Crohn’s disease or UC.
it was something like 50/50 if I’ll have a J pouch or not.

You’re right, the scars are minimal, but this video is more about living with an ileostomy than the scars afterwards. Most people can accept the scars. It’s the living with an ileostomy part that some people cannot accept, and certainly I lived with an ileostomy. Some people find ileostomies far more ugly than scars.
Though if I had surgery done the traditional way it wouldn’t have bothered me. I like my scars and sometimes wish they’d be bigger so they’d have more meaning.

With all the respect you had a laprascopic surgery , so the scars are minimal
my surgery wasn’t laprascopic , and 3 stages like yours. until now I had only one on march , the next is in the end of the month , and the takedown 2-3 , months after the second.
my main scar doesn’t look so bad , in the socond surgery i understood that the previous scar will be removed first.

Good message. The grand majority of young adults will always struggle with body image because at that age the ego is at the pinacle of its growth. The ego leads us to believe that our body is us, but it is not. It is only a temporary vehicle. See beyond what is transient and you will realize what is important in life. This will lead to a much happier and more content exsistence.
